Since his papal inauguration, Pope Francis has been known for his calls to Jesus’ followers around the world to stand up for the vulnerable and disenfranchised. But the pope has yet to take a stand against the horrific treatment of billions of our covenant neighbors—animals—and the devastating impact that animal agriculture has on the planet.

As the pope has said himself, “A Christian who does not protect creation, who does not let it grow, is a Christian who does not care about the work of God; that work that was born from the love of God for us. And this is the first response to the first creation: protect creation, make it grow.”

We couldn’t agree more with his statement, but the work of caring for this world requires that we stand up for all creation—including farmed animals who experience hell on Earth. Instead of being treated with mercy and kindness, animals raised and killed for food are forced to live in cramped, filthy conditions—unable even to turn around or spread their wings. They are separated from their families, mutilated without painkillers, and denied the opportunity to fulfill every natural instinct. Every day of their lives is spent in misery.

Pope Francis has the opportunity to make a monumental impact for farmed animals by going vegan—but we need your help to encourage him to make the switch! Click the button below to urge the pope to stand up for creation by going vegan:
